• Institutions may have their own criteria that should be achieved prior to weaning
  • In general, the following should be present:
    • Adequate cardiac output:
      • Cardiac Index (CI) >2.2 L/min/m2
      • Drop in CI <20% when attempting to wean IABP
      • Minimal inotropic support
    • Absence of angina
    • Urine output >30mL/hr
    • Heart rate <100 beats/min
    • No signs of systemic hypoperfusion
