- Institutions may have their own criteria that should be achieved prior to weaning
- In general, the following should be present:
- Adequate cardiac output:
- Cardiac Index (CI) >2.2 L/min/m2
- Drop in CI <20% when attempting to wean IABP
- Minimal inotropic support
- Absence of angina
- Urine output >30mL/hr
- Heart rate <100 beats/min
- No signs of systemic hypoperfusion
