    • 'Worst ever' or 'thunderclap' in nature
    • Occipital location is classic
    • Sentinel headache in 40%
  • Nausea and vomiting (77%)
Signs
  • Fluctuating / loss of consciousness (53%)
  • Signs of meningism (35%):
    • Neck stiffness
    • Photophobia
    • Kernig’s sign
  • Seizures (10-40%)
  • Focal neurological signs
  • Ophthalmic signs:
    • Sub-hyaloid retinal haemorrhage
    • Papilloedema
  • Pyrexia
