- ABC assessment
- Manoeuvres to relieve dyspnoea:
- Administer high flow oxygen (1)
- Sit the patient up (1)
- Remove surgical clips/sutures: (1)
- Allows decompression of the haematoma
- Ensure G&S performed and blood available (1)
- Ensure appropriate support:
- ENT surgeon (1)
- Senior anaesthetist (1)
- Arrange prompt return to theatre (1)
- Secure airway at the earliest possible opportunity (1)
- Ensure smaller ETT than previously used (1)
- Have difficult airway trolley in close proximity (1)
