- As the patient is symptomatic and surgery is non-urgent guidance would suggest delaying surgery for consideration of valve replacement prior to non-cardiac surgery
Symptomatic Patients
Candidate for valve replacement
- Valve replacement should be considered before surgery
Symptomatic Patients
Not a candidate for valve replacement
- Non-cardiac surgery should be performed only if is essential
- Balloon aortic valvuloplasty or TAVI may be a reasonable therapeutic option before surgery
Asymptomatic Patients
Low to intermediate risk surgery
- Surgery can be performed safely
Asymptomatic Patients
High-risk surgery
- Further clinical assessment is necessary to assess the need for aortic valve replacement
