- TIG can only help remove unbound tetanus toxin:
- Cannot affect toxin bound to nerve endings
- Can be administered IM, IV or intrathecal
- IV route recommended for suspected cases
- May be benefit in intrathecal administration but evidence limited
- IV TIG no longer available in the UK:
- IVIG can provide an adequate dose of TIG
- Dosing regime supplied by PHE
